Adhesion of Polymers in Paper Products from the Macroscopic to Molecular Level — An Overview
نویسندگان
چکیده
Polymers are widely used in the manufacture, converting, and end-use of paper products where the quality of polymer adhesion is important at both paper and fiber levels. This article reviews a number of relevant theories of polymer adhesion, and such adhesion phenomena as revealed in recent investigations of the adhesion between polymer thin films and paper surfaces, the adhesion of polymer molecules to cellulose fibers, and surface forces measurements between model cellulosic surfaces. It is concluded that molecular adhesion and viscoelasticity of cellulose–polymer–cellulose joints play primary roles in the paper strength, which can be tailored by a rational design of polymer additives either as strength enhancers for strong paper products or debonding agents for soft paper tissues. © Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, 2011

Molecular Identification of Macroscopic And Microscopic Cysts of Sarcocystis in Sheep in North Khorasan Province, Iran
Sarcocystis is an obligatory intracellular protozoan parasite which can infect humans and animals. Sheep are intermediate hosts of four Sarcocystis species: Sarcocystis tenella, Sarcocystis gigantea, Sarcocystis arieticanis, and Sarcocystis medusiformision. The purpose of the study was to determine the molecular identification of the macroscopic and microscopic cysts of Sarcocystis in sh...

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) has attracted a considerable amount of interest for biomedical application due to its biocompatibility, tailored biodegradation rate (depending on the molecular weight and copolymer ratio), approval for clinical use in humans by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the potential to change surface properties to create better interaction with biologica...
متن کاملThe effect of microRNA-125 on the adhesion molecule expression of integrin beta2 and adhesive determination of endothelial cells isolated from human aorta to monocyte
Background: The immune-mediated responses in vascular cells may include the increased expression of endothelial adhesion molecules, leukocyte rolling and infiltration, cellular lipid dysregulation and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) differentiation. Investigating the cellular and molecular events involved in the rolling process is useful for treatment or prevention of the vessel stenosis es...
متن کاملMolecular Study of Phase Variation of Type 1 Fimbriae in Uropathogenic Escherichia coli O44 Serotypes during Touching with Solid Surfaces
Background & Aims: Type 1 fimbriae is the most common adhesion factor in urine tract infection. In this Study, presence of virulence genes in isolated strains of uropathogenic E.Coli, O serotyping and molecular detection of phase variation of type 1 fimbriae were assessed during solid surfaces exposure. Methods: Isolated E.coli from urine samples of patients were serotyped by using serologic me...
متن کاملA short review on Ferrofluids surface modification by natural and biocompatible polymers
This paper provides an overview of how the surface properties of ferromagnetic nanoparticles dispersed in fluids is modified by natural and biocompatible polymers. Among common magnetic nanoparticles, magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (g-Fe203) are popular candidates because of their biocompatibility. Natural polymeric coating materials are the most commonly used biocompatible magnetic nanopartic...
